Walt's last personally-supervised attraction, opened at Disneyland in 1967 and at Magic Kingdom in 1973. Boats drift past a series of tableaus rendered with hundreds of audio-animatronics: a cannon battle between a pirate ship and a Spanish fort, a Caribbean town being looted, a drunken pirate sleeping with pigs, the auction scene (revised in 2018). The smell of damp stone, the constant pirate chorus, and the gentle drift through the dark are why this is so many people's sentimental favorite. Jack Sparrow now makes an appearance in the modern overlay.
